This work is the first introduction to writing on a line after students have worked on numeral and letter formation. Copy the masters and place them alphabetically in a container with a-z dividers. Allow students to pick the one they want to start with. Some will start with “A” but many will start with the letter their name starts with. They trace the words and color the pictures! Some students who have mastered formation will copy them. Teach them to put the tracer version back after they have copied it. Some like to make an alphabet book or put the pages in their journal.
